Ed Sheeran: performance con strumenti giocattolo e un nuovo amore

Ospite di uno dei più celebri talk show americani, “The Tonight show“, condotto da Jimmy Fallon, Ed Sheeran si è esibito in una versione speciale della sua hit Shape of  you. Accompagnato dall’irriverente conduttore e dai The Roots, il cantante ha eseguito la performance canora utilizzando strumenti giocattolo come mini chitarre, xilofoni per bambini e, soprattutto, una ‘banana shaker’.

Shape of you è il secondo singolo estratto dal quinto album in studio “÷ (divide)” e pubblicato il 6 gennaio scorso.

“Stavo scrivendo nuove canzoni per altri insieme a Steve Mac e Johnny Mc Daid”, ha dichiarato Ed, spiegando il brano alla stampa, “quando mi sono detto: ‘Questo funzionerebbe bene per Rihanna!’. Poi, ho canticchiato il verso ‘putting Van the Man on the jukebox’  e ho pensato ‘Beh, lei non lo canterebbe davvero, no?’. Quindi abbiamo deciso che sarebbe stato meglio tenerlo per il mio disco.”

E’un periodo d’oro, comunque, per il cantautore britannico che, oltre al successo del nuovo singolo e alle ottime prevendite del nuovo album in uscita il 3 marzo,  sarebbe finalmente innamorato e felicemente fidanzato. La fortunata compagna del cantante ventiseienne sarebbe  una ragazza di nome Cherry Seaborn, “ciliegia nata dal mare”. I due si sarebbero conosciuti sui banchi di scuola ai tempi del liceo; poi ognuno ha intrapreso la sua strada: Ed è diventato una star mondiale del britpop, Cherry una consulente di rischio per una multinazionale finanziaria. Si sarebbero ritrovati a New York, dove da un po’ fanno coppia fissa. “Cherry viveva a circa dieci km di distanza dalla casa dove sono cresciuto. Ora viviamo insieme, e da poco abbiamo dei gattini”, ha dichiarato il cantante.”Lei mi manda i video dei nostri gatti che guardo subito dopo aver finito le interviste. Questa è la prima volta che ho avuto il tempo di innamorarmi”, ha poi continuato, “Durante le mie passate relazioni, c’erano sempre lunghi periodi in cui non vedevo la mia metà perché dovevo partire e andare in tour. Con Cherry è diverso, viviamo insieme, condividiamo tutto, abbiamo una relazione davvero stabile”.
